Block Hinter Privacy Policy
Block Hinter (package name: com.wjlxy.blockhinter, referred to as “the App” below) is an Android application that recognizes 8×8 block-game boards and provides placement hints through a floating overlay. This policy explains how the App handles information.
1. Information We Process
The App processes only the information needed to provide its features:
- Screen content: When you tap the floating button to analyze the board, calibrate a layout, or manually correct pieces, Android provides screen-capture data after your authorization. The App processes the screenshot locally to recognize the board and waiting pieces. Screenshots and image objects used for recognition remain in memory only during processing, are released afterward, and are not saved as image files or uploaded to a server.
- Layouts and settings: Layout names, calibration coordinates for the board and piece areas, hint playback duration, and the introductory-hint state are stored in local Android storage. This information is used for future recognition and settings display and does not include screenshots.
- Runtime logs: The App may write diagnostic information such as analysis stages and durations to the Android system log for performance and stability troubleshooting. These logs do not contain screen pixels, screenshots, or game content.
2. How We Use Information
The App uses the information above to:
- Recognize the current game board and waiting pieces;
- Calculate piece order, recommended placements, and possible line clears;
- Display floating hints, status messages, and calibration screens; and
- Save and reuse game layouts created by you.
Recognition and solving take place locally on your device. The App currently does not use this information for advertising profiles, personalized recommendations, or cross-app tracking.
3. Permissions
- Display over other apps: Used to show the floating button, placement hints, and calibration screens over the game.
- Screen capture: Used to read the current game screen when you initiate analysis or calibration.
- Foreground service: Used to keep the capture and overlay service running while the assistant is active and to show a system notification.
- Notifications: Used to show service-status notifications, such as when the assistant is running.
- Vibration: Used to provide optional haptic feedback when analysis succeeds or fails.
You can revoke these permissions at any time in Android system settings. Revoking screen-capture or overlay permission disables the corresponding feature but does not affect other local settings.
4. Sharing and Third-Party Services
The App currently does not upload screen content, layout data, or runtime logs to the developer or any third-party server. It does not integrate account, advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services.
Android itself may perform system backup, permission management, or log management according to your device manufacturer, Android version, and device settings. Such processing is governed by Android and its related service policies.
5. Retention and Deletion
- Screenshots and recognition images remain in memory only during analysis and are released when processing finishes or the service stops.
- You can delete saved game layouts within the App.
- Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App normally deletes layouts and settings stored on the device. Whether Android backups retain data depends on your device settings.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not designed specifically for children and does not knowingly collect children's personal information. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information to the App, please contact the Block Hinter project maintainer through the contact details listed on the App's distribution page.
7. Changes to This Policy
If the App's features, information practices, or legal requirements change, we will update this page and its “Last updated” date. Significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
